Cellar Door Magazine began 3 years ago as an illustrated literary magazine created by UWE English students, to showcase their creative work. In 2015, it began it’s presence on the world wide web – so students from across The University of The West of England could showcase their work year round.
Cellar Door is still run by students at The UWE English Society; however, we welcome and encourage involvement from those across the university. Any course or discipline, staff or student can submit. We opened the magazine up to all kinds of submissions, too; we welcome creative writing submissions, opinion pieces, reviews, photography and art – etc.
We plan to continue Cellar Door in it’s original form, too. Towards the end of the year, a print edition will be put together of some of the work submitted throughout the year.
- We aim to be free of censorship – we aren’t vetting work for being too risqué. However, anything that resembles hate speech won’t be accepted.
- Please submit work to firstname.lastname@example.org in the form of an attached word document. No PDF’s or .pages files please!
- We put header images with all the pieces we put up. If possible, it would be helpful if you mention a few keywords or suggestions in the email. This will help us find the best picture to put with your work!
- If you have an idea you want to discuss with us before pursuing, feel free to email us!
